Ooh so many ways to fill in the blank
Have you ever picked up a book you’ve been waiting to read for ages, but suddenly you look at it and think, ‘meh’? Mood is everything when we’re reading (and when writing, too, but that’s another story).
There are times I want a deep, long read so I can lose myself in the story for days on end. Other times, I need a quick read, a simpler plot, something that doesn’t require too much brain power so I can relax at the end of the day.
It’s okay to ‘feed’ your mood. Will today be an alien, orc, mafia, MF, or why choose romance? Do I want a cinnamon roll hero who’s sickly sweet or a morally gray hero? Do I want slow burn, or better yet… an enemies to lovers book where the H and h fight all the way to the bedroom (and maybe in the bedroom). Or should I switch to another genre (not romance? perish the thought, but yes, there are plenty of good non-romance books - just not as good 😉).
Reading is a personal choice. Don’t let anyone tell you want you should or shouldn’t read. Read for fun, escape, a chuckle, inspiration… Feed your soul, no matter what your preferences may be.
Okay, now I’ll do the chocolate comparison because, hey, I need some chocolate. There are days you want a piece of milk chocolate, other days semi-sweet, white, or dark. Or maybe you need it dunked in peanut butter (yum!). And if you get the urge to turn the chocolate syrup upside down and drink it straight, all the more power to you. Do what makes you happy.😃
